Greetings from a new poster in Oak Cliff
Hello all,
I've been browsing the Texas board for a few months now and have gotten tons of great information. Are there any of you in Oak Cliff interested in trying out some of the local eateries? I'm a single female and long time Oak Cliff resident. I tend to eat out mostly on my own but would love a dinner companion or two to try new places or old favorites. Also, as a freelance artist I'm also budget minded most of the time. I haven't tried Kavala, Beckley Brewhouse, Cafe Madrid in Bishop Arts, and lots of the Mexican spots here. I love El Ranchito for a noisy colorful experience; Hunky's for a good burger eaten in a booth (and they have the best ice in their soft drinks!); Norma's for the comfy atmosphere; I enjoyed my one dinner at Hattie's very much; sadly, I think Gloria's on Davis has gone downhill - my last few trips there have been very disappointing. I've yet to find a decent pizza in OC - Vitto's will do in a pinch. I'd love to hear other suggestions and comments about eating out in Oak Cliff. Cheers!

I love Kavala and while I have not sampled their pizza, it looked divine. I've heard great things about Tillman's, La Calle Doce. I think Vera Cruz has gone down hill. A lot of people love Taqueria El Si Hay (hope spelling is okay), but personally, I love the taco's at the taqueria on Inwood and Stemmons at that Texaco. Beckley Brewhouse is just really unspectacular IMO and Cafe Madrid is really expensive and the one on Travis was a disappointment the last time I went there. Hattie's is really pretty for brunch, but the service was slow and the food okay.

I think this is kosher. Anyone interesting in the logistics side of planning meetups should check this out.

re: The Chowhound Team
Wow, is my face red? So sorry, everyone. I read the posting rules but must have missed this. I DID wonder how folks arranged get-togethers.I don't know where the other posts went but if any of you are still interested in meeting up this Friday you can contact me at pearlgoddess@sbcglobal.net.
Ouch. My apologies.
