I know we have a state park and waterfall called gooseberry, does anyone knows where I can purchase or go out and find gooseberries? Any info would be appreciated.

Check the locally-based farmers' markets. I was at the Mill City Farmer's Market this morning and saw a sign for gooseberries, although they were sold out by the time we got there.

I am assuming that this question is for the MSP area...last year I bought fresh gooseberries at Mississippi Market. They were only available for a short time in the summer, and I haven't seen them there yet this year. The gooseberry fool they ended up in was delicious.

The Eastside Food Coop had them a couple of days ago. I was there yesterday, but didn't notice if they had any left. Give em a call.

I don't know if you're interested in "pick your own," but in today's Pioneer Press, Nancy Ngo has a piece called "Yours for the Picking" that discusses picking your own produce, including gooseberries at Natura Farms in Marine on St. Croix or at Rush River Produce in Maiden Rock Wisconsin.

I can't seem to add the link for Natura Farms, so here is the url: http://naturafarms.com/

If you're picking your own, best do it this weekend or next. The Rush River folks told me the gooseberries are ripe, and won't last past another couple of weeks.

There were actually some at the Rainbow at the Quarry two weeks ago. I have no idea of they're still available.

I just got back from the St. Paul Farmers Market and it seems to be peak season for gooseberries.
