out-of-the-way Healdsburg?
Going to Healdsburg for a few days...Looking for some new suggestions of places to eat. I've tried most of the places in the square, including Cyrus (though not Dry Creek Kitchen and was considering giving that a shot but re-thinking after all the negative press lately on the boards). Places don't have to be in Healdsburg-we'll be doing wine tasting in Dry Creek mostly during the day and would not mind driving a little, just for a change of pace from the square.
Looking forward to visiting some old favorites-but looking something adventurous too!
thanks!

I always recommend to folks heading out Dry Creek Road that they stop by David Coffaro Winery, just past Yoakim Bridge as you're heading north. David's quite a character, loves to blend, and has excellent zins, carignane, etc. If you're there on a weekend, he often makes pizza for visitors and shows 60's rock videos and movies on his bigscreen, so you get entertainment while you taste.

Reccomendations in Sonoma-
Farm House Inn for a GREAT meal. Less formal, but maybe better than Cyrus.
Mirepoix for a really intimate meal. Great food.
Zazu for a real super-casual, but still very good and interesting food, wine country experience. I ALWAYS eat at Zazu after a day of wie tasting in the RRV. -
mirepoix in windsor is nice, bovolo (in plaza farms, on the square) is really good for breakfast or lunch..same owners as zazu, and if you're ambitious enough to head for the coast...the Rivers End in Jenner is really nice with a great sunset view.

Well.... as long as you're considering driving out to Jenner, do stop by the taco truck in the parking lot of the Guerneville Safeway. I went there three times in 4 hours once. Tie between the lengua and the carnitas for best taco I've ever had (I will admit to not being as well versed in tacos as many people. But I can compare it to Yuca's in LA and Taqueria San Jose in the Mission... it's a little better than Yuca's and significantly better than Taqueria San Jose). That one tip made the purchase price of the Chowhound Guide to the Bay Area worthwhile.
