Try a slice of pineapple on your burger..it's great!

Being a displaced Aussie I finally convinced by SO to try putting a slice of grilled pineapple on his burger. It is in addition to the normal burger with the usual suspects of onion, lettuce, cheese and tomato. However down under we add...a slice of grilled pineapple, pickled beet slices and a over easy fried egg. As you can see I am starting him off easy..but you really should try it..it is a very nice addition..he was very surprised at how much he enjoyed it. ( If using canned pineapple I would reccomend using one with no sugar added ) I have never seen if offered this way in the USA..let alone with the extra's mentioned. You guys don't know what your missing!!

  1. I often do this. Esp. good on a blue cheese bacon burger with grilled onions and some jalapenos.

    Your breath after this concoction, though......!

    1. Yes, an AUCKLANDER 3AM WHITE LADY SPECIAL. They serve them at the New Zealander in Alameda. They have meat pies too.

      1. To admit to a guilty pleasure, my favorite diner burger is usually the one with a big thick slice of pineapple and teriyaki marinade, "Hawaiian" style. It's a childhood thing. And the last time we hit Red Robin, my guy ordered a burger with a fried egg, and it looked insanely good... I never thought to combine the egg AND the pineapple! And I bet I could get pickled beets at the Central Market... thanks for the very intriguing idea!
