Wonderful restaurant west of the Hudson River

We had dinner at Shallots, in Skokie a few weeks ago. I must say that without a doubt, it was the finest dining experience I'd ever had in any restaurant, kosher or not. The bill was about what I'd expected for a four star restaurant, but worth every penny.

Also, if you're in the area, Ken's Diner on Dempster has delicious kosher Italian Beef.

FWIW, Shallots in NYC was a pretty quick failure, but this is far from the first rave I've heard/read about the CHI location.

Actually the one in NY started out well, but declined after a year or two, especially once they hired a NY-based chef and the Chicago chef stopped commuting. I visited the original Shallots once, back when it was in Lincoln Park, and it was well worth the price.

Glad you enjoyed it - yes both are excellent restaurants - the burgers at Ken's are also excellent!

One other spot to check out when your are in the Chicago area is Ta'boun - and excellent Israeli Grill -
