Can anyone recommend any place good in the Valley for Hawaiian BBQ, preferrably in the Sherman Oaks/Encino area? Thank you!

Sorry, Gordy, I live in SO myself, and know of no such restaurants in either area...I just searched LAmenupix.com and LA menu pages.com, and neither list a Hawaiian resto in those towns.

My recommendation...just hang loose straight down Ventura Blvd, to Studio City, and go to Ohana Grill in the Bally's gym shopping center between Vineland and Colfax. They've got really tasty BBQ items, including chicken (white or dark meat), pork and beef...plus other things like an amazing "supah" salad that has lots of goodies in it (chicken, shredded cabbage and carrots, slivered almonds, cucumber, rice noodles and a really nice tangy dressing).

    Check it out, 'bra....aloha!

I don't know about good, but there is L&L Barbecue in Tarzana. It's in a strip mall on the north side of Ventura near Yolanda. I've never tried it -- I refuse since it took the spot formerly occupied by Tacos Los Tapatios (RIP).

There also are signs that indicate a place will be opening in Encino. It would be on Ventura near Densmore.

I've tried the L&L in Van Nuys, and have one word....YUK.

Call this one a drive by but I recall driving in Encino by what I think was the old Ah Fong's location and saw a Hawaiian BBQ sign that was new. I admit I do not recall the name. South side of Ventura Blvd. So I do believe what you are after exists. Quality you are on your own. My last good plate lunch was on Kauai!
