Good eats from KY to Asheville NC?
Hi,
We'll be travelling south on I-75 from KY taking I-40 to Asheville NC for the 4th of July weekend. Are there any good places to stop and eat on the way say in TN or NC? We aren't picky eaters. We love the Tupelo Honey, Early Girl, Cafe on the Blvd and Mellow Mushroom in Asheville.
Thanks!
Sheila

Instead of taking I-75 and I-40, exit I-75 at London-Corbin for US 25E and see some real country.
In Tennessee stop for a piece of Vinegar Pie at the top of Clinch Mountain. Take assorted roads to I-26 which also leads to Asheville, but on a road that is breathtaking in a good way, not the heavy truck traffic and scarey I-40 that has the ability to take your breath away, not in a good way.
If you're not traveling on Sunday, try to time your trip to stop at Ridgewood BBQ in Bluff City TN, about fifteen minutes off of I-26. There are websites with times and a map.
Ridgewood does BBQ differently but really well. Be sure to try the baked beans, the sweet slaw and if you like blue cheese, the blue cheese appetizer. -
