Gateaux and Clafoutis

Martin Peck Jun 27, 2007 09:47 AM

Hello from a sunny bot very HOT New York City! I am wondering if there are any bakeries in the New York City that bake gateaux, especially gateau basque, and clafoutis please? For that matter, are there any $10-$20-price-range-for-an-entree French restaurants in New York City that offer same? Thanks!

I love clafouti and make it at home quite often. Strangely enough, I have not seen it on the menu in any French restaurant in Manhattan. Indeed, a search using the Find-a-Food function on Menupages located only one spot that serves clafouti, and it isn't French. Grace, downtown on Franklin St., serves a cherry clafouti with cinnamon ice cream.

Le Financier in the World Financial Center occasionally has cherry clafoutis.
