Outdoor Dining in Brooklyn or Queens?

MJCalloway Jun 27, 2007 08:57 AM

I'm looking for some nice places to take my bf for dinner this summer. I love eating outdoors but I'm looking for some with a bit ambience. Not just you "plop some tables and chairs on the sidewalk" type of place. Any suggestions? I'm near the Middle Village/Forest Hills/Maspeth area in Queens and prefer somewhere in BH/Caroll Gardens, etc in Brooklyn if possible.

Oh and something that is vegetarian-friendly (he's the meat-eater, but I'm not). Thanks!!

Quaint serves New American and has a nice garden in back - you can see a photo on their site (News & Review section). It was nominated for Best New Restaurant in Queens in Time Out New York this year.

There are plenty of salads to choose from but not really any good main entrees that are vegetarian-friendly. You should call ahead for seasonal menu or pasta specials of the day.

Just wander through Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, and Carrol Gardens. Virtually every restaurant there has a garden area in back.

I recently tried La Vuelta in LIC. They have a very nice backyard patio. Their menu is vegetarian-friendly. You can check their website - www.lavueltabistro.com. I was referred by someone on this site and was very pleased. They have great sangria and where else can you get a seafood paella for $16.50.

As eateryrow said, loads of places in CH/CG have patios, especially on Smith Street.....Lunetta, Chestnut, Grocery, Patios, etc.
