i decided to check out this place with my friend. i went with low expectations b/c westwood village seems to have a lot of really nasty sushi joints (like for tuna, ewww). well, my friend and i were pleasantly surprised, and especially because we were paying so little for above-westwood-average sushi. it's hard for me to put it on a sushi taste spectrum because i think sushi zo ruined me for good, but it's the first time i've been able to enjoy non-sushi zo sushi.
the restaurant is 50% off the entire week. we ordered an 8 piece tuna sashimi plate, salmon, albacore, clam, and one other i can't remember now. they seared the albacore, which was nice, and the rest of the sushi was about as fresh as your typical west la sushi restaurant. nothing to write home about but incredibly good for 50% off.
the chefs also gave us a complimentary seafood salad, and we noticed that other patrons received other free items, as well. we ordered five rolls (i like rolls, don't crucify me) all of which were substantially sized and generous with the fresh fish. my favorite roll was the tempura lobster roll. i really like how their tempura rolls are actually warm. all rolls were around $5! crazy.
they also include a lot of non-sushi items like chicken katsu, donburi dishes, grilled fish, and yakitori. they have pretty good lunch specials, too- good for those working on wilshire.
i'm not so sure i'd make the drive for full prices but it is definitely excellent for 50% off. it's probably the best korean-owned sushi restaurant in westwood village (i think there are at least 5). i think the deal ends this sunday so go this week! it's a pretty large restaurant and there were plenty of open tables/seats while we dined there. tell them chowhound sent you. :)

I also went today for lunch. I thought I would be safe ordering the bento which included salmon teriyaki, tempura, spicy tuna roll, salad, miso and rice. I also had an order of the mackerel nigiri. The salmon teriyaki was quite bland, the tiny scoop of rice that accompanied it was very dry, as was the rice from the roll (which happened to be devoid of any flavor). The mackerel was overdressed in ponzu, which still couldn't mask the not so fresh quality of the fish. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be coming back even though I live a 3-minute walk from there.

I just came back from lunch at Mura. I was a little disappointed. My two friends and I shared a 20pc Nigiri combo, a yellowtail collar entree and two of their specialty rollls (captapillar and westwood). The sushi wasn't that great. The fish was okay...but not very high quality, but the rice was really sweet and tasted weird. The yellowtail collar was okay, but I wish it was served with ponzu sauce. The rolls were much better than the sushi, and quality was okay and it was nicely presented. We didn't get any free food. Overall, it wasn't that special. If it were not for the 50% off, I wouldn't even consider going there. Total for 3 ppl was $40 + tip.
