I went to tavern on the green last night. there was a dinner dance after the gala I was in.
Ive lived in NY for 8 yrs and it was my first time at this place becuase the cost is so high!!
I had such a great time there~
great band and dancing all night...

My birthday is coming up and I was wondering what I was gona do for my birthday this year.

It will be my last birthday I will spend in NY so I wanted to do something special.

I know tavern on the green is so expensive... (anyone happen to know how much it would be to have a party with about less than 20 people?)

Is there anyother good restaurants in NY that has similar atmosphere as tavern on the green, with live music and dancing,,, and really good food with drinks?

I would appreciate your help! thanks so much!

OR...
if there is anyother idea I could do for my b-day let me know!! I need ideas...

TOTG is pretty, but believe me... the food is horrible. I had some pork chop that was like chewing into shoe leather!

You can go there for drinks/dancing later.

What about going to ASIATE? It's not far from TOTG. It's high up so you get a beautiful view, and the food is suppose to be very good. Asian fusion.

You can check menupages.com for prices.

I think it can be hard to find good food and dancing/live music at the same place. Usually one thing must suffer: either the food is terrible, or the entertainment will be cheesy.

Other suggestion: VENTO in the Meatpacking District is suppose to have very good Italian food, and it's a club later on.

My suggestion would be to try to SEPARATE the dinner from the dancing if you can.

    Good luck!

I haven't been to Asiate. Although nobody disputes to gorgeous view, the food has gotten very mixed reviews.

The Rainbow Room, which is now used mainly for private functions, offers dinner and dancing to the public on a very limited schedule. Unfortunately, it's another case of not very good food.

I haven't been to Chanto and I've only been to Payard for desserts. Otto is great for a fun birthday, but it is loud (loud music) and cramped, so it's a VERY different experience than Tavern on the Green.
