Family Dining in Maine!

Just wanted to share this one with all of you that are heading up to hit the beach, with kids in tow. If your kids are anything like mine, life revolves around meals. It's a challenge trying to keep them satisfied and also healthy. My twelve year old thinks the children's menus are so "childish" and my seven year old cannot live on a scoop of macaroni and cheese. So, I search for the affordable alternative to MickyD's and kiddie menus.

This past week we came across a find that kept all of us satisfied and wanting to come back for more. Dunstan School House Buffet www.dunstanschool.com located in Scarborough on Route 1 was just what we needed to fill up without emptying the wallet.

The first night we went for dinner and at $14.95 for adults and children under 10 are a dollar per year, I'd consider it reasonable. Like they say "Over 100 items" and they're not kidding. Peel and eat shrimp, roast beef, turkey, I could go on. The best clam chowder, and if you don't think my kids eyes lit up when they hit the dessert tables. Fresh pies, puddings, cakes and ice cream, all they could eat, well needless to say they were happy campers. The coconut cream pie was incredible.

We went back the next day for lunch and found just about the same thing except they had a great taco bar and only a few of the seafood items were missing. The price was only $7.95 and I'd consider that a bargain. We ran out of time or we would have tried the breakfast but, We'll be back in August.

Wow - thanks! We usually end up at a fish shack on the way back from Old Orchard Beach, but this could be a new option!
