Google Map of Chowhound Ultimate Los Angeles Restaurants
This is my first post, so go easy on me. I've created a Google map of the Chowhound Ultimate Los Angeles Restaurants 2006. I hope it hasn't been done already. Here's the tinyurl:
http://tinyurl.com/2vst3d
Legend:
Green = $
Yellow = $$
Cyan = $$$
Blue = $$$$
Magenta = $$$$$
Gold $ = Urasawa = $$$$$$
By the way, I left out King Taco and Zankou Chicken. I figured they would just clutter up the map. I hope this proves to be useful to other people. I created it so that I could quickly see what good restaurants are near me. I live in Tarzana, so I'm not surprised that there weren't many. Anyway, enjoy!

pretty cool dude!

Totally cool.
I was trying to find the link to the list itself, but my attempts through the search engine have come up empty. If anyone has it bookmarked, I'd greatly appreciate the link.

Awesome! Great job on the map. I'd like to forward the link to some foodie friends--is that okay?

Feel free to forward the link to your friends. I'm happy to hear that so many people have found the map useful.

Nice work. We should bookmark this, not for replying to people querying the best restaurants in L.A., but just as a useful resource when figuring out how to get to your chosen chow destination.
Wondering if it would be possible to order the list of restaurant names in the pane on the left side to be in alphabetical order?

Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way to re-order the list on the left. Currently, it's in the same order as the original Chowhound Ultimate Los Angeles Restaurants 2006 list. In the future, Google might add the ability to re-order the list. It should be pretty easy for them to do. In fact, you can re-order directions in Google Maps when you've got more than one destination.

If you ever feel like making an equivalent OC map you've have fans down south too. If I had any idea at all how to do this I'd do it myself.

+1 On the OC comment

Dazzling, psyber. Makes putting the list together seem worthwhile.

Eating your way through it is worthwhile...

Haha I envision psyber's next mod to the map should have PAC MAN on it to mark the spots you have been!

Thanks for this... I've been meaning to start a map like this for restaurants that I enjoy... sometimes I just need to know what's in an area.
it'd be amazing if Chowhound would implement a geo-tagging feature (like on Flickr) so you would have the ability to browse by location... it'd be very helpful

Psyber,
Wow! That's quite a map!
I made a map similar to this one (except *much* smaller) for Pasadena a while back. My map only listed a dozen or so places, and honestly, I have not tried them all, yet. This must've taken you an eternity to do. I'm impressed.
I did notice a couple of things though:
1) I've only been to 1-2 restaurants on this list
2) There's only one Persian place listed (Attari-- not a place I go to)
How did you decide what to list and what not to list? :)

Great job. But, good Lord, it hurts to see Sushi 101 on that list. How did that one slip in?

I used to love the place for budget sushi. Ever since their two best sushi chefs left a couple of years ago, it is a no go.

I think the inclusion of various restaurants were based on forum votes around the middle of December 2006 and tabulated in January 2007.

There do seem to be a few additions (such as Sushi 101).
