Fromage Blanc Seattle

FoodDoog Jun 25, 2007 09:47 PM

I've got a recipe that calls for fromage blanc. I've never seen this in a Seattle store...well to be honest I've never looked for it, but I was wondering if anyone has seen this in a Seattle srtore?

I have purchased it from Mt. Townsend Creamery folks when they are at the Capital Hill Farmer Market. Here's a link to their website:

You can substitute good cream cheese or quark in most recipes. If you aren't worred about fat, I like a 50/50 mix of quark and creme Freshe. That's what I use when making flamekuche.

Whole Foods carries it in the dairy case next to the creme fraiche. Metropolitan Market would likely have it as well. I've also seen it at the Market Creamery in Pike Place Market. Cream cheese would be a better alternative.

Besides those I'm pretty sure PCC and Delaurenti's also have it. I would just call any better grocery (ie not Safeway or QFC) nearest you and ask.

Creme Freshe might be an alternative.
