This weekend, I decided to try out Niko's Taverna (http://www.nikostavernainc.com/) which is near Cary in Morrisville, NC.

The atmosphere is upbeat. I started with a traditional shot of Ouzo, then had a wonderfully flaky spanikopita followed by my friend getting the moussaka while I got the chicken stew.

Everything was wonderful. The filo was very flaky, the filling savory and flavorful for the spanikopita. The Chicken was wonderfully savory, half a chicken served falling off the bone in a red stew with onions.

I really enjoyed it and will definitely head back there. Prices are a little upscale, but it's worth it.

Ok, I confess, I've been a fan of Niko's Taverna in Durham for years and years.

One of my favorite secret pleasures for lunch is ordering the lamb steak (even when it is not on the menu), with roasted potatoes and either a veggie or a greek salad.
