Maui Eats

I am going to Maui with my mother, husband and one-year old daughter. Anyone have good restaurant recs for the four of us? We are staying in Kaanapali but are willing to make an outing for some good food.

Mrs. Fred & I really enjoyed Paia Fish House in Paia. Great food for a very reasonable price (1/3 of that charged by Mama's). It is kid friendly, on the corner of Baldwin Ave. and Hana Hwy.

Pa'ia Fish Market looked very good and we almost went there last week, but the line was very long and we were a big family group of 7 and we were tired at the end of a long day's drive to Hana and back. So instead (on the strength of a Lonely Planet recommendation and Cynaburst's excellent hunch) we walked a block or so up Baldwin Ave. to Cafe Mambo for a surprisingly good dinner. The menu is sort-of-Spanish, sort-of-eclectic. My brother had a huge, nicely done paella; Cynaburst had very good kalua duck, I had flavorful locally-raised-beef fajitas. Friendly, cute waitstaff, interesting local clientele mixed with the tourists, good drinks, smoothies for the kids, we were all pretty happy.
