My birthday is bastille day and I will be in town this year. Does anyone know of any great fun French foodie things to do?
It gets terrifically crowded but can be quite entertaining -- the Bastille Day celebration on 60th Street between 5th Ave and Lexington (Sunday, July 15th). They call themselves "the street fair with french flair" and where you can be "french for a day". You can check it out at www.bastilledayusa.com.
This is a little off-topic, but my father is getting remarried on Bastille Day and I've been trying to think of a good French treat for after the reception since there's a small after-party of close family at our house. Any ideas???
we were downtown doing some C21 shopping sunday and stopped in the downtown LES HALLES (i had a nice nice tableside-mixed steak tartare lunch special) where i was reminded that they sponsor the waiter race:
"NY Waiter's Races - Saturday, July 14th on John Street in front of our Downtown restaurant. Festivities will take place in the afternoon. Activities include a Children's Race, Customer's Race and the Annual Waiter's Race, please check back soon for race start times..."
not sure if FLORENT is doing anything this year, but they usually do, call or stop by and ask, it was a pentanque tournament last year.
