La Carreta Peruana Jackson Heights

I had a good experience there a few weeks ago, I’m curious if anybody else has tried it? On a Friday afternoon I tried their lunch special of Sopa de mariscos and fried fish, and I was surprised at how good it was. I have been disappointed by a few Peruvian places in the area like La Lena in East Elmhurst, so I have hope for La Carreta.

  1. Did I steer you wrong on La Lena? Not sure if Iposted about it, but for a while I was infatuated with it on the basis of 1. its look and vibe and 2. the fact that I got some alfajores cookies to go that were dynamite. then I ate there, and it was blahsville.

I'll try La Carreta (name of a great chain of cuban luncheonettes in miami!)

La Carreta has a branch in the Miami Airport. Always a fond farewell to Fla. vacation.

Sorry...I don't mean to threadjack, but am I alone in thinking that La Carreta in Miami has seen it's better days, Cuban sandwich, meals, etc.? Large portions? Yes. Varied menu? Yes. Affordable? Yes. Good? No.

Time's slipped away from me, and I forgot to factor in that I haven't been to Miami since...gack...1985. Could this place really have declined that much?

Actually, don't answer already made it clear (to my sorrow), and we need to stay on-topic here for Outer Boros....
