Weeknight Special @ Scutra
I have to confess I've never been to Scutra, though I live in Arlington. But I was just looking at their website and saw that they're having a weeknight special (Mon-Thurs) through the end of summer: 3 courses for $21.99, any choice off the menu.
I think I might have to get myself over there.

My wife and I went to Scutra tonight, and she had the three course special. There were two choices for appetizers (Kale soup with chorizo, which was good, or green salad) and veal scallopine over carrots and mushroom risotto (which was very good). I forget the other dinner entree. Dessert with the special was a chocolate cake that was good but not great.
I had a corn and duck tamale for an appetizer that was beautiful although a bit too vinegary, and an entree of perfectly-done shrimp with 'eggplant parmesan' - roasted eggplant with fresh mozzarella, which was extremely good (although not that large a portion). I had a berry tart with champagne sorbet that was exquisite.
Scutra recently built an addition, so it's a lot more spacious than before. We've eaten there several times in the past and been impressed by the food. The service has definitely improved, although still not perfect, and the desserts have also gone up a notch. Prices are not cheap, but we'll be back.

I was excited to try the special too - I told my SO and two friends and we went on what we thought would be a cheap double date. however, we disovered (only when I pointedly asked the waiter) that the special was not any choice off the menu, but rather a limited menu. I had a simple dressed greens salad, a yummy tilapia dish with a tomato couscous, and a lemon shortbread for dessert. It was very good, but I felt a little misled since the website offer implies a choice off the regular menu (and I had picked out my choices in advance! was looking forward to the roast chicken). anyway, the special was a good value nonetheless, and my dining companions enjoyed their menu selections - the large blue shrimp and the mussels were very well received (don't remember the other dishes - the wine was flowing by then :)
