Any Good Korean food in and around Greenwich, CT?

Hi board...I'm new to Greenwich and was wondering if there is any decent korean restaurants in the area?

  1. I don't know if there are good Korean places in Connecticut. But if you don't mind driving to Westchester County (about 20 minutes drive from Greenwich), there is a Korean Place in White Plains called Kalbi House. From Connecticut, you can take Highway 95 south to Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287) get off at Exit 5 (NY 100 / Central Avenue) then get onto Route 119 first then onto Route 100 (Central Avenue) and the restaurant should be on your left hand side. It's across from a big Harley Davidson Motorcycle shop and next door to a Greek Restaurant. I usually park on Central Avenue at one of the meters although they have a pretty small parking lot in the back. You can search through postings here there might be some reviews on Kalbi House. Hope you will like it.

    Here is the address:

291 Central Ave, White Plains, NY

    1. Don't think there's anything in Greenwich proper, but is Egane still up and running in Stamford? If so, it's on Atlantic and it's pretty good Korean. More upscale. But it's been 3 years since I've been and places on Atlantic don't seem to have a long half life. That would only be 5-10 minutes from Greeniwch, depending on where you live.

Egane is still there, and still serving pretty good Korean food. We like the BBQ (particularly the Bulgogi), and also some of the other prep'd dishes (Bi Bim Bop, Short Ribs w/Kimchi).

Thanks for the info guys - I'll check those places out. I've been in the area about 2 months now and have eaten in some decent places in Greenwich but miss my Manhattan Korean fix...

Wish you good luck in finding good Korean food. If you are looking for Manhattan Korean but don't want to drive all the way there, I know "Kang Suh" has a branch in Yonkers, also in Westchester County. The address is:

2375 Central Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10710.

It's in a shopping plaza close to a furniture store (I think it's Jennifer Convertible but you may want to confirm.). Make sure you dont' make the mistake turning into the "Pier One Import" lot like I did one time because that's the shopping plaza right before "Kang Suh".

I think the quality at Yonker's Kang Suh is comparable to what you can find Manhattan.. plus Yonkers is probably closer to Greenwich, CT for you :). You can check it out if you don't mind driving down to Yonkers. If you take the highways it may take about 35 min to 40min to get there.. maybe faster if you are a fast driver!

I second Kang Suh. We recently moved to Westchester from the city and I've already picked up lunch from there a few times. I love their Bi Bim Bop. If you eat in I think they have the grills where you can cook your own meat?? And they always give you tons of sides even when you get take out. It's probably more like a 25-30 min drive from Greenwich, or maybe I'm just a fast drver!
