<content>For a very long time now, I have been on a mission to visit the best bars in Manhattan; certainly among the top 5 on my list was Employees Only. Tonight I had a chance to see what they were all about and to be perfectly honest, they have a long way to go until they ever qualify for even a top 10 spot for me. Though busy, the drinks and food did come out in a somewhat timely manner; I will give them that. In reference to the cocktails, I did find them to be fairly well balanced, but on the unavoidably sticky-sweet side for my taste (and the others with me as well). I say unavoidably because of the 6 cocktails I tried, all were of this type. To their credit, the steak tartare is certainly one of the best in the city, though the fish tacos were a disastrous concoction of various Latin ingredients that simply leaked all over each other and on the plate. The check came and though for the quantity of food and drinks we'd ordered, I suppose it was fair; I simply did not feel like it was worth it...very disappointing. Pegu Club reigns supreme thus far; next will be Milk and Honey; perhaps I'll have a report on that sometime soon.
