Well, My pilgrimage to Coney Island for the Nathans Hot Dog Contest begins this year in North Carolina. Here I will explore the nuances of Eastern NC BBQ. I am sure that it will be of interest to a lot of you.

But of more interest to me will be my search for the best fried chicken in the state of Virginia, but here is where I need your guidence to specific locations that may serve great chicken..Can anyone help?

Bills Restaurant in Courtland was voted by readers of the Norfolk newspaper to have the best fried chcken between NC and Williamsburg. Homemade desserts and veggies. Try the tomato pudding. It inside a Sunoco gas station.

I didn't know VA was known for fried chicken, but there's a great place in Charlottesville called Wayside Take-Out. Best chicken I've ever had outside of homemade. It's just off Rte 29 near UVA.

Ditto. Unreal fried chicken at Wayside. If you do go to Charlottesville...its also worth (and you're just going to have to trust me here) going over to Gibson's Market in the part of town called Belmont and getting the fried chicken from the convenience store.

More info on Gibson's in this article from a local paper:
