Broadway & W. 47th Area - Any Great Dinner Ideas?

Looking for last minute (Sat night but can arrive early - 5:30-6:00 PM range) dinner ideas around the theater district, specifically Broadway & 47th? Strongly prefer smaller places, chef owned, but realize last minute and with specific location parameters may lead to other recommendations.

Thanks for any advice.

There's Tintol on 155 West 46th Street. It's a tapas bar, but also has some other dishes as well. Check out its menu.

yakitori totto, if you don't mind an authentic Japanese meal (non-sushi). They specialize in grilled meats (yakitori) and a bunch of other small dishes. love the small fried whitefish with wasabi dipping salt.

Trattoria Trecolori, a favorite of mine and many other Hounds, recently re-opened in a new location after almost a year's absence. They are now on 47th St., b/t B'way & 8th Av. I haven't been back yet, but I feel confident the food is still solidly-prepared. Pastas have always been particularly good, and the tiramisu -- seriously delicious! If you go, I hope you'll report back.

there are 3 restaurants that fit your bill on 51st between 8th and 9th: Tout Va Bien, Vice Versa, and Shimizu (if you like sushi). They are all really delicious, small, cute.

You probably want to walk west to the block known as Restaurant Row, between 8th and 9th Avenues, on 46th Street. You can do a search on Chowhound for Restaurant Row. Personally, I like the small and quirky Hourglass Tavern, although I'll admit that some days they have not been as good as I would have hoped.

The Hourglass is a tiny, cozy place that's a good deal (don't recall the food being great). Sometimes value & good food are a winning combination. I have not been there in some time, how is it these days?
