I'll be in Minneapolis next weekend for work and I was wondering if there are any regional beers, brewpubs, or just good beer bars to check out while I'm in town? I'll be staying at the Millenium and will only have walking or short cabs rides for transportation options.

Summit is a good local brewery. Also, Surly is interesting.

I hope by "next weekend" you mean June 30/July 1. Otherwise, sorry about being too late.

While not strictly a brew pub, Gluek's has a resto-bar on 6th Street in the heart of the warehouse district, where they serve some nice specialty beers. Probably not quite as good as Town Hall, but good all the same. Gluek's makes Gluek's, Stite, and Colonial beers, available in local liquor stores and World Market.

Another somewhat local beer is August Schell. They have a nice variety of specialty beers, pale ales, stouts, and the like. Firebrick is one of my faves. Also, they bought the Grain Belt rights, so they're now making the local swill in most of the dives.

I've done the summit tour, a good time with plenty of free tastings at the end (this was about four years ago). Even if you don't make it out to Surly, try to pick up some of their brews at a beer store-they come in cans, are only distributed in the Twin Cities area, and are quickly becoming one of the top breweries in the country. Town hall has great beers and is also a good place to get food

I agree with the recommendations for Surly and Town Hall.
While you are out there, be sure to try some Bell's (MI) and Three Floyd's (IN) offerings, regionally available and excellent. Especially Bell's Two Hearted (American IPA) which I now drive to Philly to get.
