My Birthday is on Monday July 2nd. I was planning on going to Markt with some friends. My husband just informed me it was a bad idea because the fish will not be good on a Monday. I know the general Monday rule but is this always the case? Markt is fairly high end and I wouldn't think it would matter much.

From what I understand, Tues. and Thur. are the days when the restaurants get fresh fish. Can someone more knowledgeable confirm?

The fish market is open on Mondays so a top resturant will get fresh fish on Mondays. Why would the delivery be confined to two days of the week?

That did sound fishy to me. (Pun intended.) I can't imagine that places like Le Bernardin, Oceana, Esca, etc., don't get regular deliveries, including on Monday.

Here's an interesting tidbit. Acc. to Esca's website, Chef David Pasternack is a fisherman, and he often brings the fish he catches off L.I. to the restaurant. Can't get much fresher than that!
