Downtown Hot Dogs?

brattpowered Jun 22, 2007 07:35 AM

I will be visiting Chicago during a road trip, and I'd like to try a REAL Chicago dog. I probably won't have enough time to get out to Gene and Jude's in the burbs, and I'd like to know if there is a real, non-touristy hog dog option in or around the loop.

If you do only one place downtown, make it a good one: Portillo's!!
    100 W. Ontario

Another good downtown option is Fast Track
    629 W. Lake St.
    Chicago, IL 60661

IMO, Gold Coast isn't as good as it used to be.

Gold Coast Dogs has a few locations in the loop and they make a pretty good Chicago Style Char dog. If you google them, you will be able to find their webpage.

Just keep your eye open for a yellow Vienna Beef sign.
