I'm going to echo several suggestions, with clarifications. In Brigham Circle, you have the choice of Mission, Solstice, Flann's & Squealing Pig. Mission is the best if you are in a salad mood, the Pig does have great toatsies (and a great beer selection), and as another poster replied, the Solstice patio is a good get-away. Solstice can have very leisurely service however.
In the Fenway, Trattoria Toscana is lovely, and Brown Sugar has quite nice Thai. There's also Peterborough St, where El Pelon has great fish tacos, and the new Greek place (forget the name) isn't bad.

re: bachslunch
I think Mission is pretty decent and the owner seems nice. In my opinion it is slightly better than average bar food. I think the Mission is better at a larger number of things than the Squealing Pig, but among the bar food in Longwood my favorite things are the toasties from the Pig. In my opinion, the best food within walking distance is in the Fenway (Trattoria Toscana, Rod Dee (for fat noodle dishes)/Brown sugar (for rice dishes) and El Pelon). I would avoid the Longwood Bertucci's (mainly for service reasons although food is nothing special) and TGI Fridays (exactly what you expect...) for sure.
