McCormick and Schmidt's? [moved from DC]
I'm coming down to Baltimore for a work conference and was hoping to hit some local joints for dinner -- Nick's Fish House, Obrycki's, Mr. Bill's Terrace Inn, LP Steamers -- that sort of place. My co-workers are all about McCormick and Schmidt's. Is the food at M&S any good? How hard should I push for the other options (I prefer not to patronize chains). Any advice? Any favorites? Thanks.

I haven't been to the Baltimore venue, but I've eaten at McCormick and Schmicks in DC, Bethesda, and Crystal City VA -- and each time was worse than the one before. The oysters are usually good, the crab cakes are awful, and the fish is way over priced for what they present. Given the world of good food that is Baltimore I would not go to M&S if I were you.

McCormick and Schmick's is a decent chain. You could do worse, so if your co-workers praise it highly, I wouldn't look down upon thier suggestion. Stick with the fish dishes.

I just checked to see if there if a Legal's Seafood in Baltimore, and there is. Legal is preferable to M&S.
Perhaps your co-workers would be comfortable with another chain which tends to put out better food.
I've eaten at many M&S, and have never had anything I'd label as bad.

I went to M and S in Baltimore in April. have to say we had excellent service and the food was extremely good. Setting is nice too, on the water with a large patio.

I far prefer M&S to Legal. M&S in DC has a great happy hour special. Buy 2 drinks at regualr price and you can get a burger and fries for $2 (and many other things for $2, like oyster shots, wings, ets). I have not had a bad piece of fish there (though it definately would not be my first choice in DC or Balt for a fish dinner).

Hi Hoosierland,
What would be your first or even second choice for seafood in Baltimore?
