Healthy and/or sandwiches in the market?

shitake Jun 20, 2007 11:35 AM

My parents are coming to town and they eat Subway every day for lunch because it's healthy and not too filling. Obviously not wanting to perpetuate that behavior, but also not wanting to make them sick, can you suggest any healthy and/or sandwich places in or near Pike Place we can go to? Thanks!

    DeLaurenti's has lovely salads
The Market Grill has good Salmon and Halibut sandwiches.
Three Girls bakery has a whole bunch of good sandwiches.
and right across from them, Jack's Fish Spot has a fabulous Cioppino, along with great fresh Dungeness crab, freshly shucked oysters, shrimp cocktail.
At the other end of the Market, Turkish Delight has a good chicken pita sandwich.
The Crumpet Shop has good sandwiches and soups.

Mr. Nelso mentioned the Crumpet Shop which I heartily second. Their house baked groat bread is often warm when you get it, thickly sliced with fresh roasted turkey and veggie trimmings -- a wonderful lunch indeed and one that is likely to wean them from the bland, pathetic offerings of Subway..

That's still true, but on Mondays and Fridays (and maybe the weekend?? I've never been on the weekend) they do warm toasted sandwiches on day-old bread that are also delicious.

Another vote for the Crumpet Shop. Love that place.

Also, Beechers offers a turkey panini that's damn tasty and not too heavy.
