JB's Bar BQ in Brewster (NY)
Has anyone been there? There's an article in the local (Danbury, CT) paper but no review. I'm a fan of the Cookhouse in New Milford, CT, but prices are a little high (though worth it) and JB's is on the way home from work.
do you have an address HJ?

3867 Danbury Rd (Rt 202), Brewster, NY 10509
From what I can tell it's a couple miles down the road (west bound) from Rosy Tomorrows right near the Danbury / Brewster line.

I went twice, it is mostly takeout, just a few tables. I was not impressed. Big W's, the Cookhouse, and Holy Smoke are much better!

I am an avid Big W's customer. I heard so much about JB's I had to try it. Small setting, a few tables. Very clean!! the food is virtually the same is Big W's. Prices are a little cheaper. All in all, for a small BBQ joint, I love it!!

I much prefer JB's to Big W's. Ribs, brisket and pulled pork aren't as smoky, the sides are tastier, and the staff at JB's is much friendlier than at Big W's. Both places are small, order at the counter type places, but JB's wins by a mile. And Big W's is out in the middle of nowhere--at least Brewster is still part of civilization.

I stopped in there once, and don't plan to go back. Two of us shared a sampler platter, and the only item we found to be even halfway decent was the pulled pork. The brisket was very fatty and the chicken was kind of greasy and flavorless. I was disappointed, because it's only my way home from work also. I guess I will have to continue to get my BBQ fix on the weekends, when we have time to drive up to Big W.

I have been to the Smokehouse and also JB's. I do not agree with previous posts. Both are similar. I have had fat in my brisket in both places and good eats in both. JB's is cheaper. JB's is also more friendly. Smokehouse better for eat in.

I have only tried it once--pulled pork was too sauced and not smoky enough, same for the chicken. Baked beans were quite good, as was the cole slaw, though. I prefer Uncle Willy's in Waterbury.

I knew the name sounded familiar from the boards and so I did a search and here's what I found.

Consensus here would be that BigW is well worth the extra drive and that JB's doesn't compare and, from some comments, isn't even in the same league. But, if it's near you, try it for yourself and let us know your thoughts.
