Edmonton Indulgence: did anyone attend?
We thought of attending this event out at the river cree resort, sounded interesting. did anyone get out there to it? if so, what was the verdict?

I was going to go and then was going to the Canada - Czech soccer game and in the end went to neither. Probably just as well with respect to the latter given that the game was called after about 53 minutes due to the torrential thunderstorm and more to the point, the lightning.
I will be interested in hearng the "verdict" as well. I live in the west end and in fact the Cree Resort is more convenient than heading back downtown to the Chateau, Mac or Westin where this event is usually hosted.
I am not a "fan" of these get a bite here and a drink there affairs. Usually too many people, trying to balance a plate, glass and info from the distributors so no longer go whereas previously I attended many. Getting old and grumpy ... grumpier? ... I guess [grin].

Agreed. I know "Kat" at Liquor Select [I think their store operated the liquor outlet on site] wanted to know if I was going. I will ask her the next time I see her.
I used to get into the "trade" showing of the various events through my restaurant owning or wine rep friends which was nice. In the afternoon prior to the "unwashed masses" [smile] like me descending with the additional bonus of the occasional special bottle coming up from under the table which was not for general consumption.

re: Bob Mac
I've been to the Rocky Mountain Wine & Food also. I much preferred Indulgence, since all the producers/restauranteurs are local and you really get a taste of what our region produces. That being said, it was crowded, and with this type of event there is always the difficulty of balancing your plate and glass. Unlike the food & wine, however, once you get in, all the wine is included.
The one thing that disappointed me was that there were no locally produced fruit wines or mead featured; just canadian wines. Hopefully that will get fixed next year, though. :-)
