romantic suggestions around DC

Hi, I want to take my girlfriend out for our aniversery this october, and I would like it to be somewhere near DC (we are coming from College Park). I am looking for something that will be in the $100 - $150 range (for the food). And I obviously want something romantic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I posted a report on Georgetown food back in January -- including Marcel's (actually Foggy Bottom) -- very good French in a lovely dining room.

    1. My boyfriend and I had a really delicious and romantic meal for a special occassion at Equinox. Especially if you tell them it's a special occasion they'll take good care of you.

Another option would be the back room of Palena...which I personally think is very romantic because the tables are well spaced out and the food is really good.

I also forgot about Bistro D'Oc which can be very romanitc and the food is excellent French bistro food---and very moderatly priced.

The back room of Palena is really going to be cutting it close for 100-150 for food.

A place that never comes up here is Little Fountain Cafe in Adams Morgan.

        2. Just had dinner at the Tabard Inn for the first time on Father's Day. Weather permitting, the patio is very romantic, and the entire place has a very European feel. Very reasonable prices and delicious food (less expensive than Palena or Marcels). Great dark and cozy lounge area with a big fire place for before dinner drinks.

          1. Over the summer, 1789 is doing a special - 3 courses for $36. It's a wonderfully romantic restaurant, and $72 for the two of you (+ drinks) is a great deal.

This is an excellent suggestion. When they had a similar deal my bf and I had a really good meal in a romantic setting there. Very old school DC and an excuse to get dressed up.

(Btw if its on the menu you MUST get the chocolate and vanilla bread was the best dessert I have had in DC possibly ever!)

            2. Inn At Little Washington. Spend the night Very pretty, very romantic.

agreed, but VERY VERY expensive. I don't see how you do "room and board" for less than $1000/night.

You certainly won't be spending under $150 at Inn At Washington...perhaps for a bottle of wine but certainly not a meal! lol
