Dinner (with a view?) near Kingston, NY
I'm looking for restaurant recommendations in the Kingston,NY area for a special birthday dinner for two in early July. A Hudson River view would be a nice touch.
Seafood would be great but I'm open to anything. Price range is pretty much open.
Thanks!

Several choices: Rosita's has outdoor seating on their Hudson River terrace. The menu is limited, but good mexican food. Great on a warm summer day. Best view of the area: Skytop (on Route 28, near traffic circle) request a window table and enjoy a sensational view of Kingston, the Hudson and environs. I haven't been to The Steel House, but they too, are directly on the river and the menu looked pretty good. Also, Mariner's Harbor offers notably good service, seafood and steaks, plus you have a fabulous view of the Rondout Creek, boats, etc. Request a window table, or sit on the terrace and enjoy.

Haven't found anything nice with a riverside view. The downtown area, Rondout, in spite of improvements is still somewhat seedy. We like the Hillside Manor (contemporary) and Le Canarde Enchaine (French). Both do not have a river view. There are also alot of places around Woodstock that are new and interesting.

re: Fred19
mariner's on the harbor is decent, has seafood, and obviously is on the harbor.
http://www.marinersharbor.com/my fave place up there, armadillos, is a couple blocks away - but the only view is of the old bridge which connects port ewen (?) and kingston.
fred - how is the steak at hillside manor? i'm real picky on that sort of stuff; i'm looking for real good, aged steak. have had at schlesinger's in new windsor, which is the best of the area, but have heard hillside might be good...?
