Seriously Good Chow at Andrew Jaeger's House of Seafood

Tonight and Tomorrow, that's it and then the Broadway/Columbus corner morphs into yet another who-knows-what concept...
We had the best of times and weren't we fortunate? Great Food - Generous & Delicious served with Great Music and no cover charge! = Happy Times.
A plate of Oysters Bleu - perfectly fried plump oysters atop spinach drizzled with creamy chunks of bleu cheese on French bread deliciousness.
Fried Catfish and Fried Pickles! Does this Kitchen know how-to fry! Light, Crisp and Greaseless. (note to my m.d. - I finished the salad, too).
Creole Gumbo - how do I love thee? just 100 ways - this is excellent and I didn't have to cook all day to get it.
Crawfish Stuffed Pepper, aha!, this is richness all the way down to your toes!
Etoufee with crawfish, hmmmm, a spicy tingle.
Chef's Jambalaya, mussels! the most delicious sauce for rice.
Bread Pudding - dense hot custardly sweetness melting with whipped cream
Beignets with Fruit - whipped cream, strawberries, powdered sugared puffs of ethereal deep-fried choux pastry.
best Sazarac in town for long slow sips
where else can you get a bottle of Abita beer? (where can I get Barq's root beer?)
Many Thanks to Andrew Jaeger and his staff... and, to all the musicians. Can't you just hear Louis Armstrong's "Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans"? You made me remember good times in Algiers - a ferry ride across from the French Quarter - and moonlit walks on the levee. Yeah, You Right!
...will Andrew Jaeger sing with the band on Wednesday night???

In sfgate.com it said the restaurant will still serve food until Fri. June 29, 2007. You still have time to go try it.

Thanks for the extended date! We'll return before nostalgia is all that remains; for the Oysters Bleu and a Sazarac. I wish that the Cajun Pate would return to the menu!

I've seen Barq's root beer and even Diet Barq's root beer at Safeway & Albertson's. I love Diet Barq's root beer.

Did you guys eat at lunch or dinner? How much was it per person?

Definitely worth a visit while it lasts.

Sad to see it go but whenever I ate there or walked by the dining room was never close to half full, so I figured it was inevitable.

The oysters were perfectly fried as was the catfish (not a bit 'muddy" two different coatings..both great and greaseless!
The Creole Jambalaya was 'smokin' good" the etoufee was too spicy for me, but I did relieve my tongue by inserting into a custardy spoonful of bread pudding love...delicious relief!
The Fresh fruit stuffed beignets were sweet, crisp and chewy all at the same time...'fresh-fried dough'!!! What could be bad?
A wonderful final meal at a unique place which I will miss!
