Brewing beer, curing meat, or making cheese? Get great advice

Restaurants in Columbus, GA

A friend that lives in Columbus, GA says he hasn't found a decent restaurant in the six months he's lived there. He says he's gotten many recommendations, but they have never panned out. I'm visiting him next weekend, and I want to go where the chowhounders go. Any advice?

Haven't been in a while, but here's my list:

    Rose Hill Seafood
    Macon Road BBQ
Taqueria on S Lumpkin, last strip mall on R before the golf course and Ft Benning

Cannon Brewpub has decent beers, but the food's not worth it.

Where did you end up going?

Yesterday I went to Columbus for lunch. I go about 4 times a year, the last couple of times I've eaten at Chicken Comer's which I like because there are always 15-20 trucks in the lot, an abundance of laborers inside, and it's cheap (choose from the $4, $5 or $6 plate). IMO, it's slightly better bbq than Mike and Ed's and a bunch better than Country's, but I fail to understand why everyone in Columbus insists on chopping their butts into 1-inch cubes without trimming the grissle. Catch onto the pulled pork concept, people!

Next time I go, I'm trying one of the Korean joints.
