"Boards" pop-down not working??

I could only get to the Technical Help Board by clicking on "My Chow" and scrolling down to find the last thread I posted on that was on Technical Help.

I've deleted temp files and Internet cookies, cleared Internet History, and logged off and back onto CH, and I'm still having the same issue. I try to click on the little down arrow next to "Boards" - all I get the little pointy finger hand that seems to indicate it's thinking about popping down the list of boards, but no results - and then in the lower left-hand corner, I get no "processing bar" it just changes to "Done." But nothing has happened.

Anyone having the same issue?

    I'm having a similar problem. When I click on the arrow for the boards, there is a 15 second delay until the menu actually drops down. I've never had this problem until today.

      Mine eventually fixed itself after 24 hours, QueenB. Frustrating while you have to deal with it, however.

        Me too, this site has been incredibly slow yesterday and today. When I click on the arrow for the boards, it takes a minimum of 15-20 seconds to click on what you want...then the delay to get to it. What gives

          I'm re-bumping this thread, as this inordinate delay is back - both on my home PC and my work PC - both running IE 6.0.2900.2180.

          HOWEVER - now I'm getting the following pop-up message:

          "A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. (My comment = DUH!!!) If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.

          Do you wish to abort the script? Yes No "

          So there's something in the programming (the advertisements? Right now I'm seeing a VISA Signature ad in the upper righthand corner below "Who's Talking?") that seems to be causing this issue. You can click either Yes or No, and within a few more seconds, the Board pop-down menu shows up.

          But the overall wait time is upwards of 20-30 seconds. VERY frustrating!

            I get a 10 second delay for the board drop down on IE - both home and work machines. It's fine on Firefox.

              That problem is fixed for me now (IE6) since the search function was implemented last night.

              Technical folks - ANY idea on what is causing this? Still getting the pop-up message noted above (although it's usually only on super-long threads). However, now I've noticed that the 10 second delay in loading a board seems to be affected by the "layering of colors".

              I'm using the beige background color, and *EVERY SINGLE TIME* I attempt to load a message board OR a particular message thread (whether at home with DSL or at work with a T1 line), it takes 10 seconds to overlay the colors. It starts with the darker tan color - ALL background color is that darker tan, and it eventually overlays the lighter, pale beige background color on top, and THEN the maroon banners.

              This never happened a month ago - WHY is it happening now? It makes reading threads very frustrating!

              Jacquilynne, Developers - ANY assistance?

            make sure you have javascript enabled

              It's always been enabled on this computer. So I'm not sure what the issue is. It just started happening last night...and it's still happening.

                If ensuring javascript is enabled doesn't help, the best solution I can offer for this sort of problem is to try clearing your browser cache and restarting your web browser.

                If you need more info on how to do that, let me know what browser you're using, and I'll find you some directions.

                  Jacquilynne, I'll check tonight when I get home tonight to see if it's still happening. Just started happening last night @ 10:50pm EDT, and again this a.m. at home, but not here at work, so it's definitely the home computer. Will ensure javascript is enabled (but the fact that this JUST started happening last night leads me to believe that's not the issue).

                  One other thing I noticed this morning when I got to work....when I look at the menu bar, the words "my CHOW" are side-by-side, as they've always been. However, when this issue happened last night, the words were stacked, like this:

                  my
                  CHOW

                  Even after clearing the browser history/cache, and deleting temp files, it was still stacked that way. I'll check to see if it's still happening.

                  Last night's 10:50pm log-on to CH was about the 3rd or 4th time I had done so during the evening, and didn't have the issues earlier in the night.

                    Jacquilynne, don't know what the deal was last night and early this morning (DSL with a major hiccup?) but it's now working. Thanks for the offer of help! :-)
