Breakfast in Greenville, Miss?
I was really looking forward to eating at Doe's, but my schedule has changed and I will now be in Greenville, MS for breakfast. Are there any good, down home places to have breakfast in the area? And do you think I'll be able to get tamales or is that mainly a lunch/dinner food?

Yes, Gus's Restaurant on Highway 1 South at Bowman Blvd., across from the Greenville Mall.
You won't find tamales served for breakfast, though. A mile or so further down Highway 1, at Tennessee Gas Road, is a place called (I think) the Corner Market, that is supposed to have good tamales to go, if that helps. It is possible that Gus's only serves breakfast on weekends--I'm not sure. If you are there on a weekday and find that to be the case, take a right on Bowman Blvd. and go down to the next major (traffic light) intersection, South Main Extended. (There will be a small park on your left.) Look across the intersection slightly to your right and you will see Stareka Market, which is probably serving breakfast. If not, they will be happy to give you another recommendation.

I don't know about Greenville- I'm sure that there must be some wonderful places for breakfast there. But if you don't hear anything, and don't mind driving, you can go 100 miles north on 61 to the Blue and White Cafe in Tunica. Worth the trip!
