Green In San Francisco

Tanya Murchie Jun 18, 2007 09:49 AM

I am off to the beautiful city by the Bay beginning of July. Any suggestions on "Green" restaraunts, grocery stores (yes, I know Wholefoods and trader Joes"s) or great "green" shopping? I am trying hard to become more environmentally aware and do my part.
I appreciate any suggestions.

Rainbow Grocery on Folsom @ Division is about as green as it gets.

For sustainable markets the farmer's markets are the most green, the food is less traveled and organic, here are some links-

SF may be the "green" eating capital of the United States. Tons of places beyond Wholefoods and TJs. This website is a great starting point:

My personal picks would be Incanto for a restaurant, and the SF Ferry Building Saturday Morning Farmers' Market for a market.
