After a few months in Argentina, I'm really missing a good brunch. On my last trip to Buenos Aires, I went to Olsen. Are there any other good restaurants for brunch in the city?

I've heard that some of the upscale hotels have brunch, is it really expensive?

True, some of the fancy hotels have brunches, but I don't think any of them provide any real value for what you're getting, which tends to be buffet style brunch. A couple of the new trendy hotels offer brunches though I haven't been yet - the BoBo and Home are supposed to be doing some good stuff.

Personal favorite for very norteamericano style brunch is Novecento out in Las Canitas - it's nothing fancy, but it's all the classics - eggs benedict, bagels (well, kind of) with smoked salmon and cream cheese, a couple different egg dishes, bloody mary's, mimosas, the works.

There's a place called Sirop, in Recoleta, that's excellent for dinner that recently added a weekend brunch, I hear that people are lining up for it it's so good - it's on our list to check out in the next couple of weeks.

As promised, checked out the brunch at Sirop - good food, but not really what I'd call brunch - it's a set menu with a mix of things off of a breakfast and lunch menu - you get scrambled eggs, bacon, smoked salmon and cream cheese, a cheese and coldcut plate, a salad, french fries, and a mound of different breads - oddly, no coffee or tea included, nor typical brunch cocktails, just bottled water or a glass of house wine... for brunch, at least until I find something else, I'll stick with Novecento.

Checked out "Novecento out in Las Canitas" based on Casa SaltShaker's recommendation. We hadn't been to Las Canitas, so it was a fun excuse to explore the area a bit too (which is lovely, and fun, on a warm day).

There is certainly lots to choose from in Las Canitas, and many restaurants and patios were far busier than Novecento -- but the brunch menu at Novecento was unparalleled. They have a two-person brunch special for 90 AR that includes a little of everything -- plus coffee or mimosa -- that we shared between three people.

Be prepared to be leisurely though, as the service is slow (and sweet) as molasses. Lovely spot to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. Gets busy around 2PM.

Had today (Sunday) a sort'a brunch, croque madame at Croque Madame.
As good and fun as it gets, both food and "ambiance".
Plenty local ladies practicing their French.
