My best friend is moving overseas at the end of the month and I am planning a good-bye dinner. There will be 10 of us for next Saturday night. We are looking for a well-priced, moderately portioned, somewhat trendy restaurant, possibly out-door seating and great drinks or well-priced wine list. Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Otto is good for big groups. There is no outdoor seating, but the food and wine is affordable and sharable.

Le Madeleine fits all your requirements (but outdoor seating is first come/first gets!)
Talk to the reservation person. Because there are 10 of you, they might set something up.
Also: Not outdoors but you'd like it: Marseille or Etcetera, Etcetera

Does Le Madeleine now have outdoor seating? Iirc, the garden room there is enclosed. Plus, this is not in any way a trendy spot.

Marseille has an outdoor cafe. IMO, NOT trendy.

Marseille's outdoor seating is on the sidewalk. Hardly a cafe. I do agree, though, that it's not trendy.

I'd recommend Alta. You can do the whole shebang if that's your thing (the entire menu of small plates), and otherwise you can easily control portions since it's small plates. No outdoor seating but if you go upstairs there's a room behind the kitchen that has cute windows to the street or on the other side of the kitchen (also second floor) there's the internal balcony with all sorts of shrubbery.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! We ended up going to Gnocco, an old favorite downtown. In the past it has never disappointed. Unfortunately, our experience last night was mediocre. Although we had a reservation for 9 pm, we were not seated until 10 pm! It kind of put a damper on the evening. Additionally, the food, which has been exceptional in the past, was not particularly impressive.

I'm sorry you had a disappointing experience. What did you order? A Roman friend of mine has recommended their pizza, which I've never tried.

Actually, my friend who picked the restaurant is from Milan. She ordered a pizza, which she says is usually very good but was disappointed with it. Most in our group ordered pastas, 1/2 of the orders were brought to the table cold and returned to the kitchen to be reheated. I think that the initial wait for the table and subsequent poor table service detracted from our experience.
