I went to Vegas for work and had some great meals. Being with a large group of people often dictated choices I would not have readily made. However, overall the food was great and the friends I was with made a good meal better.
& Thanks to everyone who has been writing reviews/reports. I appreciate your efforts and got some great advice.

BOUCHON @ the Venitian
Excellent in every sense of the word. Ate the salmon with peas and roasted potatoes with the mustard sauce. Delish. Friends had the gnocchi, croque madame, and veal. My friend who had the veal said "that was the best veal I have ever had." She travels a lot. Dessert was the special peach tart and the dark chocolate mousse. Everyone left happy. (approx 65 pp inc. drinks)

AUGUSTUS CAFE @ Caesars Palace
The security guard raved about it. We went for breakfast. Nothing outstanding. I wouldn't eat there again.

SPAGO @ Forum shops
Excellent Lunch. Ate the house made spaghettini with garlic, plum tomatoes and basil. Friends had Deli calzone and pappardelle pasta. Again, Delish. (approx 30 pp)

CHEESCAKE FACTORY @ Forum shops
Very large group ate here and it was mostly good. Standout dish was the tamale appetizer. People liked the tres leches cheescake. My Evelyns favorite pasta was good. Someone else who ate it didn't like it. The service was very good and they didn't mind giving us separate checks. My favorite thing was the organic coffee. (approx 25-35 pp)

MESA GRILL @ Caesars Palace
Went for appetizers and drinks. Food was exceptional. Shared/ate the chopped salad, smoked chicken and black bean quesadilla and Yucatan tacos. Friend had the raw tuna nachos and said they were very spicy. (approx 140 for 4 people with a semi-round of drinks)

BELLAGIO BUFFET @ the Bellagio
Went for breakfast and it was quite good. Standouts were the salmon (smoked and roasted) potatoes and croissants. The eggs were ok. The pizza was good. Desserts were great, although the lemon tart was almost too much - it definitely woke up your taste buds. (approx 16 pp)

My friend discovered Illy coffee at Rao's in the morning and was very happy with it. They serve it to go in the gift shop adjacent to the restaurant. Our conference was at CP and the coffee served was ok. Most often they ran out by 8 am, so this was a good find.

  1. OK, I haven't been to Vegas in years, so I can't comment on your reviews.

BUT....I love Illy coffee. I first had it at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington DC, and I have since found it here and there across the DC area. By comparison, Starbucks tastes like raw sewage....

    1. re: BigEats

we're down with illy. used to drink it a bunch in australia (as that's where the wife is from). as of late, we've taken advice from folks & heard that coffee really loses alot within a week or two of roasting.

any great coffee places roasting their own beans out here?

    2. second Bouchon - I have never had a bad meal there and the oysters are always outstanding
