Has Anyone been to Hook?

Just curious if anyone has had any experience with Hook in Georgetown?
Going for Fathers Day, Dad likes a good piece of fish and I've heard they do very
good fish there.
Thanks.

Yes, I have been there and enjoyed it very much. If you do a seach on "Hook" in Chowhound you will find a number of reviews, including mine. It reminds me of Esca in New York (if you have been there) except I like Hook better. Enjoy youre dinner !

Tom Sietsema as apparent in today's Post. He liked it too. 2 and 1/2 stars.

It's hard to believe the new trend is such junk fish as bluefish now

Bluefish can be quite good be prepared right (and the one my GF tried at Hook cetainly was). At least bluefish aren't overfished.

It has been a recent trend to rename "junk" fish and sell it for high prices. No one bought Patagonian Toothfish until some marketing genius renamed it Chilean Sea Bass and now it is overfished. Another example is peekytoe crab. These are Maine rock or sand crabs which were pretty much a throwaway by-product of lobster fishing before a brilliant marketing move changed their name to "peekytoes" around 1997.

Perhaps fishermen should change the name of blue fish and everyone would clamor for it !

Agreed, Tried Hook last night and I thought they do fish better than anything I've had around here.
My wife had the "junkfish" and she loved it. I had the Mahi Mahi and loved it.
My parents had the Alaskan Salmon and ate it all which is a feat.
Overall, very good experience, portions were under control, and the servers although young and eager to please, were very knowledgeable of the menu for the most part.
I hope to go back soon.
            Hooked on Hook!

Sorry I am late with this. I had a wonderful meal, including dessert. Don't pass it up.

Hook is great - get the Angler fish with the Maldon Salt sprinkled on it, its white and pink, mild taste (I love salmon and stronger fish flavor, but this pleasantly surprised me). The oyster's were the only thing I was a bit disappointed with, they were warm and nothing special. I had the salmon as an entree, delicious, and my friend got the lobster risotto. I am not a risotto lover, but I tried hers and it was quite good, though I would not order it myself. Barton Seaver is a creative young and exciting chef from New England and I look forward to his new creations!

I'm not sure what people see in this restaurant-- I was very disappointed with this weekend's visit. I thought it was pretentious and way over-priced. The portions were incredibley small and I didn't find anything particulary special about the fish selection. My fish votes for the city are oceanaire and pesce. I even enjoy Grillfish over this place.
