Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine

Just tried this one for the very first time. Very very good. Great nose, decent head, amazing balance between the malt and the hops. Just beautiful.

It is a barleywine, so don't pound a 6-pack and head off to your job at the air traffic control tower.

I didn't think this year's Bigfoot was all that great in comparison to other year's (same with the celebration). Usually the hop profile is a bit rougher with much more hop aroma. This year it was smooth right out of the gate and didn't have that pungent nose it usually has - but still a great beer and one of the few bottled beers I am willing to buy.

It's even better after you hold onto it for 5-10 years or so. ;-)

I understand the folks at the brewery prefer it fresh, when the hop oil coats your lips. I guess I prefer it that way too. I do have a bottle or two of older BF in the closet, however.

Replying to the OP, this is a seasonal beer, due to appear again next Feb.

I am with you, I like em fresh too. You get such a nice fresh hoppiness to it. This is a definite seasonal treat
