As I remember it's not much of a menu - select from cheese enchiladas or fajitas.

Try LaPlayaMaya in Ft.Worth. Good Mexican food. Mi Cocinas in downtown Ft. Worth is very good as well. I don't like Joe T's....to much hype and the food isn't that all great.

Your only choices are fajitas and enchiladas. Seriously....that is all there is to order.
Everyone has different tastes and preferences and you may love the food, but I suggest keeping your expectations on the low side. I never could understand the following this place has developed. They serve a style of Mexican food that, as explained to me, is indicative of West Texas. If that style is to your liking then you should be satisfied.

Again, Joe T's has a following and you may love it- lots of people do. I just didn't like it...okay I hated it. I thought the food was bland and greasy and would have been very disappointed to spend a birthday dinner there. I am trying to compare the food quality with someplace else to give you a better idea, but am drawing a blank. I would consider it somewhere around On the Border, but with a limited menu.

Are you looking for Mexican specifically? Are you willing to go to Dallas? For Mexican food in Dallas, I like Avila's on Maple, Javier's on Cole, and Cafe San Miguel on Henderson.
If you want to look at menus here are the websites:
http://www.javiers.net
http://www.pomerita.com/dinner.html
Avila's is too mom and pop to have a webpage, but google them and read the reviews. I really like their mole.

Additionally, a relative of the family who runs Avila's opened a restuarant on Lemmon near the tollway. I have not been there, but it has received good word-of-mouth.

No matter where you end up I hope you have a nice birthday celebration.

If you are wanting to stay in the Joe T. Garcia family and enjoy a nicer meal, then try Lanny's Alta Cocina, it's in Fort Worth as well.

Again, Joe T's is a cool place for dinner with friends, but it's more for experience and less for a remarkable meal.

Sorry to say, but this place is one of the worst Mexican restaurants around. The chicken fajitas and enchiladas were not good at all. The chicken was flavorless. The margaritas were not very good either. The atmosphere is really nice but I would rather enjoy my food.

Well, just to report back we had a good time. The food was not horrible. I would have preferred more choices. We walked in the front door and didn't even know about the back gardens. Should we ever go again, we will sit outside. Thanks for all your help.

Count me as someone who loves Joe T's, even if it's just nostalgia on my part. I remember going when I was a small child. It was pretty small then and just had the one meal, fajitas weren't on restaurant menus back then (I think they were called Tacos al Carbon at that time).
