Hi All,

Have any of you been to Suba or Azafran recently?? My friend had already been to my previous choices (cratbar, bar room at modern), so would like to venture to other places.

Looking for good food and service, energetic crowd. Thanks!!

I haven't been to Azafran in awhile. Have been there a few times only for dinner. My experiences were all good (whether I sat in the dining room w/H or at the bar alone). It's a little pricey because it is in TriBeCa (if that's a factor). They used to have a guitarist (Thursdays?). On of my favorite dishes was the shrimp with dates (I developed a mild addiction to it).

Hmmmm. It looks like PINTXOS in Tribeca might be the choice if we concentrate on Spanish/Basque tapas. PUBLIC if we're concentrating on main entrees.

      Thanks for weighing in!

Been to Azaftan a few months ago. Didn't like it one bit - the food was ok, but nothing more, and they tricked us into drinking (and paying for) a much more expensive bottle than the one we ordered (granted, it was the second bottle...very smooth).

Gotta love those drink gimmicks, huh?... NOT! Thanks for the warning.
