Asit happens, the lady who originated the Fatburger chain just died recently (as per an LA Time obit from a couple of days ago). She held on to the original location on Western near Jefferson until fairly recently. This is not the same person you mention but I just thought I'd make a note of another unfortunate passing.

I'm under the impression that Mom died awhile ago and Cig runs it now. That place is awesome . . . best burger around.

We need Burger Boy to answer this one. I am not sure if the news story I heard was somehow related to the bad news you mention but I recall hearing something about a death of a women and the name in the news was Naka and the place made burgers. I do not know what city or if it was Naka's Broiler in Compton. Maybe call for sure?

So which is better, Mom's or Naka's? And what's best at each?
