Where to eat around 18th & K

Can people recommend places for lunch/drinks/dinner around 18th & K. All I seem to find are chains, where are unappealing. Do any locals have ideas for this newly arrived foodie?

Restaurant Kolumbia is right at the NW corner of 18th and K. While a full meal there for lunch or dinner can be pricy (though worth it), the $9 lunch at the bar is an incredible bargain, and the happy hour menu and drinks at the bar are equally great.

      I know it's a chain ... but a small one ... Smith and Wollensky's?

Isn't the Prime Rib nearby...go there!!! Excellent food! Classic DC atmosphere. And if they have their 3-course lunch special...it's an excellent deal.

Jimmy's on K is consistently good for lunch.

I disagree. Jimmy's on K was consistently horrible, with respect to both food and service. The well-functioning market has decided: Jimmy's is now closed (thankfully).

At 18th just below I Street is the terrific happy hour, 3pm to 7pm, at Taberna del Alabardero. Half price tapas and sangria. Well, the tapas start out VERY expensive, but go for the patatas bravas and the pate de conejo. A tremendous one-two punch.

walk to 19th and M and hit up the Greek Deli for lunch. Killer food and pretty cheap too.

for lunch, try CF Folks or the Well Dressed Burrito. Both are great. For drinks, try out Vidalia's happy hour, they have a fair amount of wines by the glass and free "tastings" every night from like 5 to 7 or so.

I 2nd CF Folks! Best lunch (and crabcake) in the city!

But you should know they are only open weekdays and I think their hours are something like 11:45-2:00pm or 2:30.
