  1. I really like the blue corn and chili fried calamari with a lime and tequila tomato sauce at Nightlife in Night Hotel. Careful, some of those fried rounds are actually jalapenos!

    1. For the past 17 years I've been adoring the Calamares Fritos at El Charro Espanol, 4 Charles Street (Greenwich Ave). I'm a regular there, and I get them almost every time I go. in 17 years, never less than perfect.

      1. I believe the same question appeared about a month ago, so if you do a search on "best calamari" you may get some recommendations.

As i put in the previous thread, the fried calamari at Del Posto was one of the very best I have had.

Second Del Posto (I had it at the Enoteca). Those cherry peppers are killer.

        2. The calamari served at the Maritime is shockingly good. I would never have believed it unless I tried it myself but the coating is light and the calamari is tender.

          1. I love the calamari at Pylos

            1. Zoe in SOHO, great calamari.

              1. Some of the best fried calamari I have ever had, was at Union Square Cafe...They fry it in graham flour, and it is one of their signature dishes...

Love the Calamari at Deborah & Odeon is pretty good too.

                2. our personal favorite for fried calamare currently is as an appetizer at Landmarc, West Broadway. Yum, yum yum.

                  1. If you want a VERY casual atmosphere, try Live Bait's calamari (23rd St. across from the park). I'm dead serious! Had some last Saturday after the Big Apple BBQ and it was FANTASTIC! Almost melted in my mouth!
