Half Bottles in New Jersey?

I was listening to a radio food show today and the host commented that because of its large number of BYOB restaurants, New Jersey is a major market for half bottles of wine (375 ml).

OK, so where do I find these bottles? My local wine/liquor stores have a really poor selection of half bottles so any and all suggestions are welcome (I drive for wine!).

  1. Funny, I was driving home and heard the same show. Depends on where you're located, but if you goto one of the chains (Wine Country, Shoppers Discount, etc.) you'll be able to find them. They also have them at some of the larger stores, Wine Library, Gary's etc.. As for me, If we bring a bottle from home,on the odd occassion that we don't finish the bottle, we'll bring a vac-u-vin w/us to seal the bottle before we take it home. This way you don't have to pay fopr the split.

    1. The Wine Cellar in Red Bank on Monmouth Street has a nice selection as well.

Total Wine seems to have a decent selection, though I usually buy the whole bottle as we have no problem finishing it! This is a chain, and I have been to the store in Cherry Hill as well as the store in Delaware (no sales tax in Delaware on anything!). Both stores are the size of a grocery store with a huge selection. I've found the people in the CH store very helpful with wine selection.
