I am a native San Franciscan heading to Fayetteville for a quick visit (my new niece!).

I'm not from the area, but if you like craft beers, the selection at Mash House can't be beat. Food is a notch above standard pub grub.

If you have time, I'd recommend a trip to Chapel Hill or Raleigh. Durham is a bit further but just as chow-worthy.

Somebody told me today they had a fabulous Italian meal at a place named Dino's on Ramsey Road. Fat shrimp on fettucini Alfredo, deep lasagna, run by two Italian-American brothers. The friend could't say enough about the food and service.

I am sorry, I can't help you with the town of Fayetteville, but if you are going to take any short day trips you may want to consider Pinehurst and Southern Pines...there are a few threads on this board. My husband's favorite place in that part of the state is a small Thai restaurant in Aberdeen called Thai Orchid.
